The HAL3000 Workstation Threadripper Pro is an extremely powerful workstation with a 24-core AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7960X processor. The build offers extensive customization options through our configurator and represents a top-notch foundation for professional productivity professionals who demand maximum multi-core performance.

The 24-core AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7960X processor offers excellent multi-core computing performance with support for the robust HEDT (High-End Desktop) platform of the AMD TR5 socket with the TRX50 chipset. The workstation is primarily suitable for professional productivity that requires maximum multi-core performance, high reliability and greater expandability than that offered by traditional desktop platforms. The high CPU frequency of up to 5.3GHz ensures smooth running of projects and excellent rendering times for videos in 4K quality and higher. The dedicated Nvidia GeForce GT 1030 2GB graphics card provides basic graphics acceleration. The computer has, in the basic stock configuration, a large capacity of 64GB of DDR5 memory with ECC error correction support for processing large projects, videos, data archives and/or running multiple applications simultaneously. The ultra-fast NVMe PCIe SSD ensures fast system and program responses.

The advantage of the set is also easy connectivity thanks to integrated Wi-Fi and a wide range of customization options. Of course, there is powerful AIO water cooling of the processor and tuning for quieter operation of the computer under load. The configuration is a suitable basis for, for example (and not only) for: creating and editing videos in 4K, 6K and 8K; editing and working with large archives of thousands of photos; graphic projects and designs; any production activity with an emphasis on very demanding multitasking.

Graphics cards: GTX/RTX vs Quadro

For Adobe Photoshop, the graphics card is currently more of a supporting factor that accelerates some effects. The choice between GTX/RTX and Quadro graphics depends primarily on the user’s demands. Quadro offers top-notch support with many certifications for the software and therefore almost guaranteed optimal and error-free operation. GTX/RTX cards do not have this extensive support in the work environment, but they are a much more affordable solution. However, it is always important to remember that graphics acceleration is generally significantly faster: even a cheaper graphics card can cut the required processing time in half, and Adobe is constantly expanding support for graphics acceleration. The capacity of the graphics memory also depends significantly more on the card’s raw performance.

Adobe Lightroom offers a similar situation with two exceptions. It currently does not offer support for 10-bit color depth. Quadro graphics lose their advantage here, and GTX/RTX cards can usually do the same for a fraction of the cost. Another exception is the “enhanced details” feature, which can significantly use the performance of the graphics card to improve the quality of the output. Even an older mid-range card can be up to 20x faster than very powerful processors. This feature often benefits from the difference in graphics architecture, a modern mid-range card can deliver better results than the most powerful card of the previous generation. So if you plan to use this feature often, it is a good idea to consider a more powerful graphics card.

Sooner or later the question arises whether I need or will use 10-bit color depth, but how do I make the right decision and what is the color depth suitable for? 10-bit color depth guarantees a cleaner and more realistic display of all colors and reduces so-called color transitions in the image. Applications such as Adobee Photoshop can work in 10-bit mode and use the full potential of the connection, while Adobe Lightroom works in 8-bit mode at most. Before buying, you need to evaluate which program is used most for work and whether the extra cost for 10-bit display, i.e. mainly a high-quality monitor, is worth it.

ATTENTION: To set 10-bit color depth, you need to have a monitor that supports 10-bit display and also meet one of the following requirements: 1) Have a professional graphics card from the Quadro series with current drivers installed. 2) Have a GTX or RTX series graphics card with current “Studio Driver” edition drivers installed.
